Former Hollyoaks actress Ali Bastian has shared a deeply emotional and uplifting update, revealing that she is now “cancer free” following a challenging battle with breast cancer.

The 43-year-old actress, also known for her roles in Doctors and The Bill, had been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer last year.

Bastian first discovered the lump while breastfeeding her daughter, Isabella.

Reflecting on the moment, she recalled how she initially thought her soreness was due to increased feeding.

However, upon further examination, she felt a lump, which led to her seeking medical attention.

The actress, who has been open about her journey, took to social media to share the incredible news that she had reached the final week of her radiotherapy,

marking the end of her active cancer treatment.

She expressed immense gratitude for the medical professionals who supported her through this difficult period, acknowledging their dedication and compassionate care.

In January, Bastian underwent a mastectomy, which she described as a success. The surgery confirmed that her chemotherapy had effectively worked in fighting the disease. Sharing her joy and disbelief, she wrote, “As I sit here right now, I’m free from cancer. I can’t even believe it.”

The British actress, who resides in West Cork, Ireland, with her husband David O’Mahony, paid tribute to the team at Cork University Hospital. She credited the nurses for their kindness, patience, and support, emphasizing how much it meant to her to have a safe space to process the emotional weight of her treatment.

“To be coming out of the other side of this feels unreal. After the shock of a diagnosis, it’s hard to let in the light and believe that it might just be okay,” she shared. “The road back to my life won’t be a linear one… but I will share as much of my truth and experience as I can.”

Bastian also spoke about the importance of support for individuals going through cancer treatment. She stressed that those battling the disease need unconditional love, encouragement, and understanding. “People with cancer, experiencing cancer treatment, need love. Full stop. Unconditional, arms-around-you love and support,” she wrote.

Her heartfelt words resonated with many, as messages of love and encouragement flooded her social media. Fans and followers celebrated the news, expressing admiration for her strength and openness throughout her cancer journey.

The former Strictly Come Dancing semi-finalist, who turned 43 in February, is now looking forward to the next chapter of her life with her husband and their two daughters, Isabella and Isla Rose. Bastian and O’Mahony, an actor, writer, and director, have been married since 2019, building a beautiful family together.

Bastian first rose to fame playing Becca Dean in Hollyoaks from 2002 to 2008. Throughout her acting career, she has captivated audiences with her performances, and now, she has inspired many with her resilience and courage in facing one of life’s toughest challenges.

According to Cancer Research UK, stage 2 breast cancer is considered an early form of the disease, meaning it is still confined to the breast or nearby lymph nodes. Early detection and treatment significantly improve the chances of recovery, and Bastian’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of regular health checks.

As she continues her recovery, Bastian remains dedicated to sharing her experience with others, offering hope and encouragement to those who may be on similar journeys. “When it’s dark, look for stars,” she concluded, reminding everyone that even in the toughest times, light and hope can still shine through.
