Hollyoaks actress Ali Bastian has shared uplifting news with her fans, revealing that she is now cancer-free following a challenging six-month battle with breast cancer.

The former soap star, best known for her role as Becca Dean, took to social media to express her gratitude and relief as she reached the final stages of her treatment.

Ali Bastian’s Emotional Announcement

On Instagram, Bastian shared a heartfelt message with her followers, reflecting on her journey and expressing appreciation for the support she has received throughout her battle.

She thanked fans for their birthday wishes before delivering the life-changing update:

“I wanted to update you all. I’m on to my final week of radiotherapy, which should mark the end of my active treatment –

I hope and pray for good! I had my mastectomy in January, which was thankfully a success and has healed really well. It proved that my chemo had worked. As I sit here right now, I’m free from cancer. I can’t even believe it.”

She went on to acknowledge the incredible work of her medical team, calling them “the most incredible team” and expressing deep gratitude for their dedication and care throughout her treatment.

A Long and Difficult Journey

Bastian first shared her diagnosis in September last year, after initially believing the lump she discovered was a blocked duct. Doctors prescribed a round of antibiotics, but when the lump persisted, she underwent further tests at a specialist clinic, which ultimately confirmed the presence of cancerous cells.

Following her diagnosis, she embarked on an intensive treatment plan, including chemotherapy and, eventually, a mastectomy. Despite the challenges, Bastian remained positive and open about her journey, sharing insights into the physical, mental, and emotional toll of cancer treatment.

In her post, she reflected on the emotional weight of the experience:

“The nurses have given me compassion, time, and space to share and talk about my experience of a very challenging treatment pathway. It’s not only a lot for the body to process but an awful lot to process mentally and emotionally.”

She also paid tribute to the oncologists, nurses, and even the small but meaningful gestures from those around her, such as Stef in the Dunmanway, who makes tea for chemotherapy patients. Bastian acknowledged how these moments of kindness helped ease the loneliness that often comes with cancer treatment.

Moving Forward with Gratitude

Although her journey has been filled with hardship, Bastian remains hopeful about the future. She admitted that adjusting back to life after cancer treatment won’t be a straightforward process, but she is ready to embrace whatever comes next.

“To be coming out of the other side of this feels unreal. After the shock of a diagnosis, it’s hard to let in the light and believe that it might just be okay. The road back to my life won’t be a linear one, and I will share as much of my truth of this experience as I can.”

She also took a moment to highlight the importance of love and support for those going through cancer treatment, emphasizing that kindness can make a world of difference for people facing such difficult battles.

Despite stepping away from Hollyoaks years ago, Bastian has remained a beloved figure among soap fans, and her openness about her health journey has only strengthened her connection with supporters.

A Message of Hope

Ending her message on an uplifting note, Bastian reminded her followers to stay hopeful even in the darkest times:

“People with cancer, experiencing cancer treatment, need love. Full stop. Unconditional, arms-around-you love and support. I’ve really felt that from you all, also in my day-to-day life… from the most unexpected of places. When it’s dark, look for stars.”

Her words serve as a reminder of the power of resilience, community, and hope. Now, as she moves beyond this chapter of her life, her story stands as an inspiration for those facing similar battles.
