Tuesday’s (March 4) episode of Hollyoaks, now available on Channel 4 streaming, delivered intense drama as Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis)
and Dillon Ray’s (Nathaniel Dass) relationship fell apart once again. After rekindling their romance following Dillon’s past betrayal, the couple’s hopes for a fresh start were short-lived.
As Dillon’s involvement with Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) deepened, Lucas found himself caught in a dangerous spiral that ultimately led to their heartbreaking breakup.
Rex’s Dangerous Influence
Lucas and Dillon’s reconciliation was built on the promise of a new beginning. However, their relationship was quickly tested by the presence of Rex,
a shady figure who has been pulling Dillon and Frankie Osborne (Isabelle Smith) deeper into his criminal world.
Lucas, deeply unsettled by Rex’s growing control over his boyfriend, took matters into his own hands and reported him to the police after discovering stolen goods at Weirside View. However, Rex’s associates intercepted the call, preventing Lucas from taking action against the gangster. Rather than backing down, Rex turned the situation against Dillon and Frankie, forcing them to sell drugs at a party to make up for Lucas’ interference.
Lucas’ Reckless Decision
Torn between his morals and his relationship, Dillon agreed to sell drugs alongside Frankie, much to Lucas’ disappointment. When Frankie labeled him “miserable” for not going along with their plans, Lucas, overwhelmed and frustrated, impulsively took drugs from a drink at the party.
This reckless decision had immediate consequences. By the end of Monday’s episode (March 3), Lucas had lost consciousness, leaving Dillon and Frankie in a state of panic. As they realized the severity of the situation, they knew they had to act fast—but calling an ambulance was not an option due to the drugs at the scene.
Dillon’s Desperate Attempt to Save Lucas
In a desperate bid to save his boyfriend, Dillon took a party-goer’s car and rushed Lucas to the hospital. However, upon arrival, instead of staying by his side, Dillon and Frankie chose to leave him outside, hoping that medical staff would find him in time. Their priority was to return to Weirside View and eliminate any evidence of drugs before Rex could find out.
Dillon’s guilt eventually got the better of him, and at Frankie’s insistence, he returned to the hospital. However, by then, the damage had been done. Lucas had regained consciousness and was devastated to realize that Dillon had abandoned him when he needed him most.
Lucas Ends Things with Dillon
Heartbroken and betrayed, Lucas confronted Dillon, recalling the bond they once shared. He reflected on their summer together, struggling to save enough money for a holiday, and admitted that he loved the Dillon from back then. However, he no longer recognized the person standing before him.
Unable to forgive Dillon for leaving him to die, Lucas made the painful decision to end their relationship. The emotional breakup marked a turning point for both characters, as Lucas distanced himself from Dillon’s increasingly dangerous world.
Rex Tightens His Grip on Dillon
As Lucas walked away, Rex wasted no time in pulling Dillon further into his grasp. In a disturbing twist, Dillon found himself in a compromising situation when Rex encouraged him to move on with Cooper (Chris Eastwood), the owner of the car he had taken earlier. Unbeknownst to Dillon, Cooper handed Rex a wad of cash in exchange for a night with him, highlighting just how deeply Rex had manipulated him into a dangerous and exploitative lifestyle.
What’s Next for Lucas and Dillon?
With their relationship seemingly beyond repair, the future remains uncertain for both Lucas and Dillon. While Lucas has made it clear that he wants nothing to do with Dillon or Rex, it remains to be seen whether he will uncover the full extent of Rex’s hold over his ex-boyfriend.
