James was furious when he could no longer take riding lessons from Cody on General Hospital. So James followed in the footsteps of such Port Charles children like Michael and Spencer by running away from home so that the adults in his life would realize he was angry, and boy, wouldn’t they be sorry then! Maxie made a half-hearted attempt at disciplining him by cutting off his video games and his ice cream. Eh, James shrugged, whatevs. It’s not video games and ice cream he wants; it’s riding lessons and, more importantly, time with Cody. So, if running away didn’t get him what he wanted, maybe his new scheme will.

Island of Women

James (Gary James Fuller) has already made it clear how much he hates living in a household of women, with mom Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and sisters Georgie (Lily Fisher) and Bailey, not to mention the involvement of his two grandmas, Felicia (Kristina Wagner) and Leisel (Kathleen Gatti).

He’s looking for a father figure, and with Grandpa Mac (John J. York) out of town, Cody (Josh Kelly) is it. Until the truth came out about Mac being Cody’s biological father, Mac decided James shouldn’t be hanging out with Cody anymore. Yeah, Cody ain’t feeling it.

Matchmaker, Matchmaker

So Mac doesn’t want Cody around James. Fine. But Felicia and Maxie are Team Cody! So what if James were to do an end run around Mac and hook up his mom and Cody? Sure, he’s currently dating Sasha (Sofia Mattsson). James wouldn’t be the first Port Charles kid to discuss adults’ opinions for his own preferences. And if Cody and Maxie were to start dating, then Felicia would be enthusiastic. And Mac would be…outvoted. So, who cares what the adults in his life want? Like Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez — who has something big coming), like Michael (Chad Duell) and, we strongly suspect shortly, Wiley, James is determined to get his own way.

James was feeling dejected after his failed attempt at running away from home to get back at the adults in his life. He realized that his actions were not getting him any closer to his goal of spending more time with Cody and getting riding lessons. But James was not one to give up easily. He decided to come up with a new plan to achieve his desires.Instead of trying to manipulate the situation with his family, James came up with a more mature approach. He decided to have a heart-to-heart conversation with his mom, Maxie, about how much Cody means to him and why riding lessons are so important. To his surprise, Maxie listened attentively and understood his perspective. With Maxie on his side, James felt more confident in expressing his feelings to Cody. He approached Cody and explained how much he admired him and looked up to him as a father figure. Cody was touched by James’ sincerity and dedication to improving his riding skills.Together, James, Maxie, and Cody came up with a schedule that allowed James to continue his riding lessons while also spending quality time with Cody outside of the stable. James was thrilled to have found a compromise that worked for everyone involved. As James reflected on his journey to get what he wanted, he realized that communication and understanding were key in achieving his goals. He learned that running away and causing a scene would not solve his problems, but talking openly and honestly with his loved ones would. In the end, James was grateful for the support of his family and the opportunity to continue learning from Cody. He knew that he had grown from the experience and would use the lessons he learned in the future. And so, James rode off into the sunset, both literally and metaphorically, with a smile on his face and a heart full of gratitude.
