The custody battle between General Hospital star Steve Burton and his ex-wife,

Sheree Burton, has taken a dramatic turn, with alleged private text messages between the former couple surfacing in court.

The messages, submitted as evidence by Steve, shed light on the ongoing tension between the exes,

particularly regarding their 10-year-old daughter, Brooklyn, and Steve’s fiancée, Michelle Lundstrom.

Heated Text Exchange Over Custody and Relocation

In Touch obtained the alleged text messages, which paint a picture of a contentious back-and-forth between Steve and Sheree.

The messages, dated October 22, 2024, appear to focus on their disagreement over Brooklyn’s custody arrangements and the complexities of their living situations.

Steve, 54, allegedly expressed frustration with Sheree’s decisions, claiming she made it difficult for him to take Brooklyn to Tennessee. “Sheree, you have to stop this … I work my ass off to take care of everyone. Everyone,” he reportedly wrote. “You moved and moved back, and I’m not sure what world we’re living in where that is not the truth, and it’s documented.”

According to Steve’s alleged messages, Sheree initially convinced him to move to Tennessee but later changed her mind, moving back to California after he had already given up his lease. The back-and-forth relocation, he claimed, created unnecessary complications. “Texts, people, bank records … what’s going on here?” Steve continued. “Not one person believes I talked you into moving? You think it’s ok to behave this way and actually tell your lawyer that? That is troubling. And now you think not alternating holidays is right and that’s ok?”

Sheree’s Response: Defending Her Choices

Sheree fired back in the alleged text exchange, pushing back against Steve’s claims. “Enough already with the moving and moving back,” she wrote. “Nobody is saying I didn’t buy a house there. It was a horrible decision, and you know darn well you kept telling me, ‘The future is not in California.’”

She went on to clarify her timeline, stating, “I literally came back to California after two weeks in October of 2023. You had a house until May 2024, and you still chose to get out early because you couldn’t get to Tennessee fast enough. You said you want to be there.”

However, it wasn’t just the logistics of their living situation that fueled the argument—Sheree also took aim at Steve’s new relationship. “You’re just upset because I messed up your plan to be closer to your girlfriend. That’s fine. Live where you want, but please stop already with the ‘I moved and moved back.’ Everybody knows it makes zero sense for you to be there. Zero.”

Tension Over Michelle Lundstrom

Sheree’s messages suggest that Steve’s fiancée, Michelle Lundstrom, has become a major point of contention in their custody battle. She accused Steve of prioritizing his new relationship over their daughter’s best interests. “You want to be there, so take responsibility for once and stop blaming me for everything,” she wrote.

She also defended herself against accusations that she was limiting Steve’s access to Brooklyn, insisting, “I accommodate every single time you want to see Brooklyn. I never stop you. I guarantee you if it was turned around, you would not do the same for me.”

Steve allegedly responded by laughing off her claims. “lol. Fuzzy facts,” he wrote. “You left early because Jason had a job, and I left my job. I got out of my lease like you were trying to remember? Because we agreed to move.”

He then pointed out how Sheree refused to acknowledge Michelle by name anymore. “You’re so angry you stopped saying her name and have to say ‘girlfriend.’ Geesh. Remember when you would say Michelle and then stopped? Please get help.”

A Bitter Legal Battle Continues

Steve and Sheree finalized their divorce in 2023, but their legal disputes have continued, particularly regarding custody arrangements. Steve, who revealed his relationship with Michelle in early 2024, has remained vocal about wanting fair access to Brooklyn, while Sheree has expressed her frustrations over the changes in their family dynamics.

With these alleged text messages now being used as evidence in court, the custody battle between the former couple shows no signs of de-escalating. As the case moves forward, it remains to be seen how their ongoing disagreements will impact their daughter and whether a resolution can be reached that satisfies both parties.

For fans of General Hospital and followers of Steve Burton’s personal life, this latest development adds yet another layer of drama to an already highly publicized split.
