Former Hollyoaks actress Ali Bastian has shared the incredible news that she is now cancer-free following an intense battle with stage 2 breast cancer.
The 43-year-old, also known for her roles in Doctors and The Bill, underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy,
and radiotherapy after discovering a lump while breastfeeding her daughter, Isabella.
A Shocking Diagnosis
Bastian first noticed something was wrong while nursing her daughter, who was 19 months old at the time.
Speaking about the moment she realized something was amiss, she recalled how a sudden increase in Isabella’s feeding habits led to soreness in her breasts.
Initially attributing the discomfort to a growth spurt, she soon realized the pain was different and, upon further examination, discovered a lump.
Following medical consultations, the actress was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer—a moment that turned her world upside down. Determined to fight the disease, she embarked on an arduous journey of treatment, which included surgery, chemotherapy, and rounds of radiotherapy.
Successful Treatment and Hope for the Future
In a heartfelt Instagram update, Bastian revealed she was in the final stages of her radiotherapy, marking the conclusion of her active treatment. Sharing her emotions with her followers, she expressed both disbelief and overwhelming gratitude, stating, “I had my mastectomy in January, which was thankfully a success and has healed really well. It proved that my chemotherapy had worked. As I sit here right now, I’m free from cancer. I can’t even believe it.”
