While she is known for her impulsive streak, Moira Barton’s recent fiery behaviour in Emmerdale has left fans wondering if she could face a huge medical condition.
The farmer portrayed by Natalie J Robb was back to her antic this Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in the ITV soap, as her husband Cain (played by Jeff Hordley) probed her over her involvement in Samson’s arrest.
On Monday, the tough man’s nephew was dragged out of The Woolpack by PC Swirling, after he’d assaulted Josh off-screen. Since then, and due to her ongoing row with the teen, Cain was immediately convinced she’d turned him in.
However, Moira maintained she hadn’t grassed on Samson, though she admitted she would have liked to had someone not beaten her to the punch. Meanwhile, viewers at home were losing patience with her due to her snappy behaviour.

“Moira is getting on my nerves”, one of them noted on X, otherwise known as Twitter. “Moira is actually doing my head in atm”, another echoed. But a theory soon emerged and speculation led some viewers to think Moira could be set for a health ordeal, particularly as she seemed to forget she had once murdered Emma Barton and let one of her sons carry the blame.
“I’m starting to think Moira might be ill or something cos why is she acting like this? Has she forgotten she pushed Emma off a bridge to her death”, one soap fan commented. “Could Moira have early on set dementia or a brain tumour with her forgetting things”, another agreed.
“Is it going to turn out, that Moira has a medical condition ? She just acts weird sometimes, like she’s forgetful, it was like she didn’t remember, throwing the glass at Cain”, a third penned. “Moira has health issues, menopause maybe. She’s snappy all the time & blows hot & cold….mostly hot”, another wrote.
One social media user suggested that Moira could face menopause, much like soap legend Bernice Blackstock before her: “Are #emmerdale going down the menopause route for #Moira? It’s the only way to explain her rage and personality change?!”
Another fan, however, suggested that tensions within Moira and Cain’s marriage could escalate into a full-blown affair: “Am I the only one who can see where this angry Moira storyline is going. Cain and Ella affair.”
Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) was revealed to have turned Samson over to the police after his girlfriend Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) saw he had called the police on his most recent call log.
Confronted with the truth behind the Woolpack bar, Noah was kicked out of the boozer by a furious Amelia. Meanwhile Samson, who has appeared on the long-running drama for almost two decades, bowed out of the Dales after being sentenced to four years in prison.
