After EastEnders’ explosive 40th-anniversary week, which left Walford reeling from shocking twists and heartbreaking losses,

it has now been confirmed that a familiar face will soon return to Albert Square.

Vicki Fowler, the daughter of Michelle Fowler and Den Watts, is set to make a dramatic comeback following the devastating death of her uncle, Martin Fowler.

Vicki will be played by actress Alice Haig, who takes over the role from Scarlett Alice Johnson, marking the character’s first appearance in more than 20 years.

She won’t be returning alone—her partner Ross, portrayed by Alex Walkinshaw, and his son Joel, played by Max Murray, will accompany her as they step into life in Walford.

With tensions running high in the wake of Martin’s death, Vicki’s return is bound to stir up emotions and shake things up on the Square.

Who is Vicki Fowler?

Vicki Fowler is a well-known character to long-time EastEnders fans. Born in 1986, she is the daughter of Michelle Fowler and Den Watts, making her the half-sister of Sharon Watts. Throughout her early years, Vicki was at the center of family drama, growing up in the care of her grandmother, Pauline Fowler, while Michelle built a new life in the United States.

When Vicki returned as a teenager in 2003, she was rebellious, independent, and determined to carve out her own path. However, after a turbulent time in Walford, she eventually left for Australia in 2004 with Spencer Moon, where they planned to run a bar together. Since then, she has remained absent from Albert Square—until now.

Alice Haig Takes Over the Role of Vicki Fowler

The role of Vicki Fowler is now being played by actress Alice Haig, taking over from Scarlett Alice Johnson. Originally from South East London, Haig brings a wealth of acting experience to the soap.

Having trained at Shakespeare’s Globe, Haig has built an impressive career in both theatre and television. She has performed in Jonathan Kent’s Fairy Queen at BAM New York and worked on projects with leading theatre companies such as Paines Plough, Theatre 503, and the National Theatre Studio.

Haig has also taken on various television roles, with appearances in the BBC drama Rain Dogs, where she played journalist Sophie, as well as in This Is Going to Hurt. Additionally, she starred in the Disney+ series Andor, showcasing her versatility as an actress.

Speaking about her excitement for joining EastEnders, Haig said:

“I am so excited. I have always watched the show, and I was born in February 1985, so I’m the same age as EastEnders! It’s so cool to be playing a character like Vicki – we think we know her, but a lot has changed. I can’t wait for all the Albert Square drama ahead.”

What Brings Vicki Back to Walford?

Vicki’s return to Albert Square comes in the aftermath of Martin Fowler’s tragic death. Martin was killed in The Queen Vic explosion after being crushed by falling debris, leaving his loved ones devastated. With her family in mourning, Vicki’s return will likely be an emotional one, especially as she reconnects with her sister, Sharon Watts.

She won’t be coming back alone, either—her partner Ross and his son Joel will be by her side. While details about Ross and Joel’s storylines remain under wraps, their presence suggests that Vicki’s return will be more than just a brief visit. Could she be planning to stay in Walford for good?

What to Expect from Vicki’s Return

As Vicki settles back into life in Walford, viewers can expect plenty of drama. Given her past rebellious nature, she may find herself clashing with old faces, and there’s also the question of how she will fit into the lives of those who have changed since she left.

With her sister Sharon dealing with her own troubles, including Cindy Beale’s return and the fallout from The Queen Vic disaster, Vicki’s arrival could provide Sharon with much-needed support—or add even more tension to an already volatile situation.

Meanwhile, Vicki’s mother, Michelle Fowler, remains absent from the Square, having last left for Australia in 2018. Could Vicki’s return open the door for Michelle to make a comeback as well?

When Will Vicki Make Her First Appearance?

The exact date of Vicki’s arrival has yet to be announced, but given that Martin’s death just played out on screen, it’s expected that she will make her debut soon. Fans will likely see her first appear around the time of Martin’s funeral, where emotions will be running high.

Vicki Fowler’s return marks yet another exciting twist for EastEnders following its milestone anniversary week. With Alice Haig stepping into the role, fans can expect a fresh take on the character, along with new dynamics and storylines that will shake up the Square.
