The episode, which was released on ITVX earlier in the day, focused on Dylan Wilson’s sentencing and his subsequent placement in a Secure Training Centre (STC).

His punishment came after he was found in possession of a knife, which was linked to the tragic murder of Mason Radcliffe.

Trying to keep a low profile behind bars, Dylan quickly realized that his connection to teacher Daniel Osbourne had not gone unnoticed by the other inmates.

One particular inmate, Brody, took an immediate interest in Dylan, making him feel increasingly uneasy.

Despite Dylan’s attempt to keep his personal life under wraps, he ultimately admitted that he and Daniel were neighbors.

Brody, however, warned him to keep that information quiet to avoid drawing unwanted attention from the others.

Fans who had read the episode’s spoilers were already anticipating these tense moments. The teasers had hinted at Dylan’s growing concerns about his safety and Brody’s unexpected offer of support. In the episode, Brody stood up for Dylan against some of the other inmates, advising him to stay close until he found his footing in the facility. However, given the setting and the situation, viewers were left questioning Brody’s true intentions. Was his offer of help genuine, or did he have an ulterior motive that could put Dylan in even greater danger?

While the unfolding drama kept audiences hooked, many were more distracted by the actor portraying Brody. It didn’t take long for eagle-eyed viewers to recognize Ryan Mulvey, who previously played JJ Osborne in Hollyoaks.

Mulvey’s departure from Hollyoaks was still fresh in fans’ minds, making his sudden appearance in another soap all the more surprising. JJ Osborne was a deeply disturbing character, infamous for his horrific actions against his twin sister, Frankie Osborne. In a harrowing storyline, JJ sexually abused Frankie before attempting to discredit her and paint her as a liar. However, the truth ultimately prevailed, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction.

Given how recently Mulvey’s character was sentenced to prison in Hollyoaks, his reappearance in Coronation Street—also set within a detention center—led to a flurry of fan speculation online. Many questioned whether this was a deliberate soap crossover, with some even suggesting that JJ had simply been transferred to another facility under a new name.

Taking to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, fans quickly voiced their confusion. One viewer excitedly wrote, “Please let JJ from @Hollyoaks be the same person now in #Corrie.” Another added, “So JJ now in prison in #Corrie, is this a crossover or is he playing a brand new character?” A third echoed the sentiment, asking, “Did anyone spot JJ in last night’s #Corrie in prison with Dylan? Wonder if it’s a crossover and the character is also called JJ?”

While the theory certainly gained traction, the reality is far simpler—Ryan Mulvey is portraying a completely different character in Coronation Street. Brody is not connected to his previous Hollyoaks role, despite the coincidental prison setting. However, the unexpected casting choice has undoubtedly added an extra layer of intrigue to the storyline.

As the plot unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Brody will be a friend or foe to Dylan. His initial offer of support suggests he may act as a protector, but given the harsh environment of the STC, his true motives could still be shrouded in mystery. With Dylan already fearing for his safety, he may soon have to determine whether Brody is a genuine ally or someone with his own dangerous agenda.

For now, fans will have to wait and see how Dylan’s time in the STC plays out—and whether Brody’s presence will be a blessing or a curse. One thing is certain: Ryan Mulvey’s surprise return to soapland has certainly got viewers talking.
