Helen Flanagan, best known for playing Rosie Webster on Coronation Street, has expressed her enthusiasm for returning to the long-running ITV soap—

and she already has an “iconic” idea for how her character should make a comeback.

The actress first appeared on Coronation Street in 2000 as the daughter of Sally and Kevin Webster.

Over the years, she became one of the show’s most memorable characters, thanks to her dramatic storylines and larger-than-life personality.

However, Flanagan has been absent from the soap since 2018, leaving fans wondering if Rosie would ever return to the cobbles.

Now, Flanagan has revealed that not only is she eager to step back into Rosie’s high heels, but she also has a vision for how her character should make her grand re-entry.

A New Chapter for Rosie Webster

Speaking about her potential return, Flanagan shared that she believes Rosie should come back as a single mother with two children. In her proposed storyline, Rosie would leave her kids in the care of her mother, Sally Webster, while taking on a new role as an “iconic” barmaid at the Rovers Return.

Flanagan also mentioned how her own circumstances would make a return to Coronation Street more feasible. Now based in Bolton, she explained that working closer to home would allow her to balance her acting career with motherhood. The actress, who has three children, emphasized that her new storyline idea would incorporate her real-life experiences as a mother, adding more depth to Rosie’s character.

Reflecting on Her Time in Corrie

During her time on the soap, Rosie Webster was involved in some of Coronation Street’s most unforgettable storylines. One of Flanagan’s personal favorites was the dramatic plot involving John Stape, in which Rosie was kidnapped and locked in an attic. The storyline captivated audiences and remains one of the most talked-about moments from her time on the show.

Rosie’s last appearance on Coronation Street came in 2018 when she was offered a job presenting a game show in Japan after a guest appearance on This Morning. She packed her bags and left, with no further mention of her whereabouts since.

Wanting to Work with Sally Dynevor Again

Flanagan has also expressed her excitement at the possibility of working alongside Sally Dynevor, who plays her on-screen mother, Sally Webster. The two shared a close bond on-screen, and Flanagan has always spoken highly of Dynevor.

However, she acknowledged that the decision to bring Rosie back is ultimately in the hands of the producers. “It’s up to the producer, it’s not really up to you,” she admitted. “You have to be asked, you can’t just turn up.”

A Potential Return to the Cobbles?

While Flanagan’s idea for Rosie’s return sounds exciting, there has been no official confirmation from Coronation Street producers about whether they are considering bringing her back. However, with the soap always evolving and introducing fresh storylines, it wouldn’t be surprising if Rosie Webster made a dramatic comeback in the future.

If Flanagan’s vision were to become reality, it would offer a fresh and entertaining dynamic to Coronation Street, especially with Rosie stepping into a role behind the Rovers Return bar. Known for her glamorous and sometimes ditzy personality, Rosie’s presence in Weatherfield would undoubtedly shake things up, especially for her mother, Sally, who would have to juggle caring for her grandkids with keeping Rosie in check.

What Would Rosie’s Return Mean for Corrie?

A return for Rosie Webster would not only delight long-time Coronation Street fans but also add an element of nostalgia to the show. As a character who has been part of some of the soap’s most dramatic and humorous moments, Rosie’s comeback would provide the perfect mix of comedy and chaos.

Whether or not producers decide to bring her back, Helen Flanagan’s enthusiasm for Coronation Street remains clear. And if she gets her wish, fans may soon see Rosie Webster back where she belongs—right in the heart of Weatherfield.
