Coronation Street fans have been left disappointed as the beloved ITV soap has been pulled from the schedule tonight (February 21).

Typically airing every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8pm on ITV1, with episodes also available on ITVX from 7am,
the long-running drama has once again been replaced in the evening lineup.
Instead of visiting Weatherfield, ITV will be broadcasting the UEFA Women’s Nations League match, where England will face off against Portugal.

The live coverage is set to begin at 7.45pm, following Emmerdale’s usual slot from 7.00 to 7.30pm.

Dedicated viewers quickly took to social media to vent their frustration at the scheduling change.

One disgruntled fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “FFS, does that mean Coronation Street isn’t on?” Another added: “They’ve cancelled Coronation Street for this!” Many fans expressed their annoyance at yet another disruption to their regular soap-watching routine.
This isn’t the first time in recent weeks that Coronation Street has been bumped from its usual slot. Earlier this month, an episode was scrapped to make way for the FA Cup match between Manchester United and Leicester City, leading to a similar outcry from soap enthusiasts who were eager to catch up on the latest drama from the cobbles.
Beyond these recent disruptions, ITV has also confirmed a major scheduling shake-up set to take place next year. Currently, Emmerdale airs daily at 7.30pm with a special hour-long episode on Thursdays, while Coronation Street maintains its thrice-weekly hour-long format. However, in 2026, both soaps will undergo a significant overhaul, introducing a new ‘power hour’ for fans.
Under the revised schedule, Emmerdale will move to an 8pm timeslot every weekday, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm. Although this means Weatherfield residents will appear on screens five nights a week instead of three, each episode will only run for 30 minutes rather than an hour. Consequently, while fans will receive more frequent episodes, the overall weekly screen time for Coronation Street will decrease from six hours to five.

Meanwhile, the soap has recently seen the return of a familiar face, with actress Katy Cavanagh reprising her role as Julie Carp. Julie’s reappearance on the cobbles has stirred excitement, with speculation rife about how her return will impact ongoing storylines. Many believe her storyline will be linked to the upcoming departure of her sister, Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), who is set to leave the show in the near future.
With all these changes and unexpected schedule interruptions, loyal Coronation Street viewers are certainly having to adapt. However, with the promise of more frequent episodes in 2026 and the return of beloved characters, there is still plenty to look forward to in Weatherfield.
