Catherine Tyldesley is making a long-awaited return to Coronation Street as the beloved Eva Price, seven years after her dramatic exit from the soap.

The actress, 41, first joined the ITV show in 2011, becoming a fan favorite for her role as the glamorous barmaid.

Now, reports confirm she is set to reprise the character, with filming expected to begin this summer.

A Triumphant Return to the Cobbles

After years of speculation, Coronation Street producers have finally convinced Tyldesley to step back into Eva’s shoes.

According to The Sun, the actress has been approached multiple times about a potential return, but the timing was never quite right.

However, this time, the storyline pitched to her was reportedly too compelling to turn down.

A source revealed, “Cath has been away for a while, working on various projects, but she really missed Corrie. They’ve tried to get her back a few times, but the stars have never aligned. When she was approached with the idea for Eva’s return, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.”

Tyldesley and ITV have yet to officially comment on the reports, but fans are already buzzing with excitement over what Eva’s comeback might entail.

Eva Price’s Most Memorable Storylines

Eva Price arrived in Weatherfield in 2011 as the daughter of Stella Price (Michelle Collins) and half-sister to Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). She quickly became a central figure on the show, known for her fiery personality, glamorous style, and tumultuous love life.

One of Eva’s most dramatic storylines involved her relationship with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward). Their romance took a devastating turn when Aidan had an affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon). In a shocking act of revenge, Eva faked a pregnancy and used Aidan’s savings to buy herself a pink Range Rover. The truth about her deception was dramatically exposed by Maria at what was supposed to be Eva and Aidan’s wedding.

Shortly afterward, Eva discovered she was actually pregnant with Aidan’s child. Heartbroken by everything that had transpired, she decided to secretly give the baby, Susie, to her half-sister Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor), who had been struggling to conceive.

However, tragedy struck when Aidan took his own life in 2018, leaving Eva devastated. Realizing she couldn’t part with her daughter, she decided to leave Weatherfield to raise Susie on her own, making an emotional departure in a taxi.

Catherine Tyldesley’s Career Since Coronation Street

Following her exit from the soap, Tyldesley pursued various projects across television and theatre. She starred in the BBC comedy series Scarborough and took on a lead role in Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical. Unfortunately, the theatre production was cut short due to poor ticket sales.

She also reunited with her former Coronation Street co-star Shayne Ward in the drama The Good Ship Murder, which began airing its second season in January 2025.

However, despite her diverse career choices, Tyldesley has always left the door open for a Coronation Street comeback. In a 2023 interview with Prima magazine, she admitted she would “never say never” to returning, stating: “Coronation Street feels like forever ago, but I always look back with great fondness. If they approached me with an amazing storyline and the time was right, of course, I’d go back.”

What Could Eva’s Return Mean for Coronation Street?

Eva’s return to Weatherfield raises several intriguing questions. Given her history with the Connors and Battersbys, her comeback could reignite past tensions and open new storylines.

Will she reunite with Toyah and Leanne? How will she explain her return, and could baby Susie—now a little older—play a role in the drama? Could Eva rekindle an old romance or find herself entangled in new conflicts?

There is also speculation about whether Eva will reclaim her place at the Rovers Return, where she once worked as a barmaid.

Fans Excited for Eva’s Comeback

As soon as news of Tyldesley’s return broke, fans took to social media to share their excitement. Many have fond memories of Eva’s dramatic, often comedic, presence on the show and are eager to see how her character will fit into the current Coronation Street landscape.

One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Eva Price is coming back?! This is the best news! We need her sass and drama back on the cobbles!”

Another added, “I hope they give Eva a massive storyline. She was such an iconic character!”

When Will Eva Price Return?

While an official return date has not been confirmed, reports suggest Tyldesley will begin filming in the summer, meaning Eva could be back on-screen later this year.

With her history of high-stakes drama, romance, and feuds, Eva Price’s return is sure to shake things up in Weatherfield. Fans will be eagerly awaiting more details as Coronation Street prepares to welcome back one of its most beloved characters.
