Who else grabbed the remote and hit “rewind” after the final few moments of today’s General Hospital aired? Our jaws hit the floor as Kristina crashed through a window and landed in the Metro Court pool.

Was this the end for Alexis and Sonny’s daughter? And what about the unborn child she’s carrying? One thing is for certain… the events which unfolded in Ava’s suite will have a huge impact across the canvas in the days and weeks to come.

Certainly the angry words tossed back and forth between the two women were a long time in coming, carrying the weight of history. Even had the scene not ended with Kristina flying through the window (thanks to a badly-placed gym bag), we still would have watched it again to catch all the references.

“You hit the parent lottery, huh?” taunted Ava. “Your mother is a pathetic lying drunk, who destroys the men she claims to love,” she said of Alexis, whom viewers will remember had a volatile relationship with Ava’s late brother, Julian.

Giving as good as she got, Kristina warned that she would testify that Ava “was the reason my brother Morgan died. You messed with his bi-plar meds and you replaced them with placebos and you caused him to have a mental breakdown!” As if that weren’t enough, the younger woman also threatened to tell the courtroom that Ava had killed Connie.

All in all the scene was, as the kids say, a lot.

But what we couldn’t have foreseen was the moment when Ava reached out to grab Kristina’s arm, causing the young woman to step backwards, trip over the bag and plunge into the Metro Court pool.

But did the fall actually kill Kristina? And what of her baby? Things will definitely be tense in Friday’s episode… starting when Joss, who was sitting poolside when the accident happened, leaps into action. Before long, Dante will be arresting someone… which might explain why Ava is desperately reaching out to someone for help.
