In 2025, Coronation Street fans can expect plenty of drama and new faces on the cobbles as a number of long-standing stars prepare to depart the iconic ITV soap.

As the show bids farewell to several familiar characters, it will also introduce fresh personalities to stir up the action in Weatherfield.

Several beloved Coronation Street actors have already announced their exits later in the year, creating a mix of sadness and anticipation for what lies ahead.

Among those set to leave are Colson Smith, known for playing Craig Tinker, and Sue Cleaver, who has portrayed the formidable Eileen Grimshaw for many years.

In addition, viewers will say goodbye to Charlotte Jordan as Daisy Midgeley, Luca Toolan as Mason Radcliffe, and Shelley King, who has played Yasmeen Metcalfe since 2014.

With these departures, new arrivals will bring fresh dynamics to the show, and Corrie fans are eager to see how these changes will shake up the beloved drama.

Here’s a closer look at the new faces set to make their mark on Weatherfield in the coming months.

James Bailey Returns with Jason Callender

The first big arrival is Jason Callender, who will take over the role of James Bailey from Nathan Graham, who portrayed the character from 2019 to 2022. James Bailey is a popular character who, during his previous stint on Coronation Street, was known for his warmth, charm, and close family relationships.

Jason Callender, a seasoned actor with experience in Silent Witness, Malory Towers, and 4 O’Clock Club, will bring his own flair to the role. James will return to Weatherfield to visit his sister Dee-Dee Bailey, played by Channique Sterling-Brown. He has spent some time living in the US with his partner Danny, but now finds himself back in Weatherfield for a new chapter.

In discussing his portrayal of James, Callender said, “James is bringing a lot of warmth, a little bit of love, charisma, and a little bit of charm.” Fans can expect James to add an extra layer of personality and energy to the cobbles when he returns on March 17.

Theo Silverton – A New Character to Watch

Next up, Coronation Street will introduce Theo Silverton, a completely new character played by The Archers star James Cartwright. Theo will make his debut in Weatherfield from the week beginning March 24. This new addition promises to stir things up, as Theo finds himself clashing with some of the established characters on the show.

Theo’s arrival is set to create tension between him, Julie Carp (played by Katy Cavanagh), and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley). Although Theo is described as a “good guy” who enters Weatherfield with the best of intentions, his behavior may rub some of the residents the wrong way. James Cartwright, who plays Theo, explained, “I think Theo is a good guy, he comes in with the best of intentions, but he may upset some people with his behaviour.” Viewers will likely see Theo’s interactions with other characters take unexpected turns, adding intrigue to his storyline.

Carl Webster – A New Chapter for the Webster Family

The final big arrival for 2025 will be Carl Webster, played by Jonathan Howard. Carl is introduced as the younger brother of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), though he has a different mother from the two. His arrival in Weatherfield is set to be a pivotal moment for the Webster family as Carl comes to town under the guise of supporting his brother Kevin, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer.

However, as the storyline unfolds, it will be revealed that Carl is not just here for emotional support—he has some financial troubles that he’s been hiding. Jonathan Howard, who has appeared in blockbuster films like World War Z, Thor: The Dark World, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, brings a wealth of experience to this role, and fans are excited to see what drama Carl will bring to the cobbles when he makes his debut on April 11.

A Time of Change for Coronation Street

The introduction of these new characters signals a significant shift for Coronation Street, with several long-time residents leaving and new faces stepping in to fill the gaps. While some fans may feel the void left by characters like Craig, Eileen, and Daisy, the show is clearly gearing up for new and exciting developments that will keep viewers hooked.

As James, Theo, and Carl make their way into Weatherfield, it’s clear that Coronation Street has plenty in store for 2025. These fresh faces, combined with the ongoing storylines, promise to bring even more drama, intrigue, and excitement to the cobbles in the coming months. Whether it’s new relationships, shocking revelations, or deep family dynamics, the future of Coronation Street looks brighter than ever. Fans can look forward to seeing how these characters will interact with established residents and contribute to the rich tapestry of life in Weatherfield.
