The World Security Bureau (WSB) has been a central part of General Hospital since the early 1980s,

bringing intrigue, danger, and complex characters to the forefront of the soap opera’s plotlines.

From super-spy Robert Scorpio to the highly skilled Anna Devane and Frisco Jones, the WSB has given viewers some of the most thrilling storylines in GH history.

As time has gone on, however, it’s clear that many of the most prominent agents are aging, and the WSB needs fresh blood.

But recent spoilers have left many wondering whether they’ve chosen the right candidate.

Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), a character fans have watched grow up on screen, has recently been pegged as a potential new recruit for the WSB.

While Joss is undoubtedly strong-willed and capable, her qualifications for a career in espionage are questionable. Is she truly suited for the dangerous and demanding world of the WSB, or has the organization made a huge misstep in choosing her?

Joss’s Impulsive Decisions Raise Concerns

One of the most significant concerns about Joss’s potential as a WSB agent is her impulsive decision-making. Throughout her time on General Hospital, Joss has repeatedly made hasty choices, often without considering the consequences. A prime example is her brief affair with Dex Heller (Evan Hoffer) while still technically in a relationship with Cameron Webber (William Lipton). Joss’s emotional decisions seem to be driven by the moment, with little regard for how they might affect others or herself in the long run.

This impulsivity extends to other parts of her life as well. From emotionally charged decisions like her involvement with Dex to her rash decision to shoot Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), Joss has demonstrated a tendency to act on impulse rather than careful planning or strategic thinking. Espionage is a world of calculated risks and precision. An agent must be able to maintain control and think clearly under pressure—traits that Joss has yet to fully exhibit.

Health Concerns and Potential Liabilities

Another issue that could hinder Joss’s ability to succeed as a WSB agent is her health. Having undergone a kidney transplant as a child, Joss is at risk for complications, particularly if she is placed in dangerous or stressful situations. The life of a WSB agent is anything but predictable, and these agents are often thrust into life-threatening circumstances that demand peak physical performance.

Joss’s medical history could pose significant risks to her ability to perform in such high-stress situations. If her health were to deteriorate unexpectedly during an undercover operation or a dangerous mission, it could jeopardize not only her safety but also the success of the entire mission. Given the nature of the WSB’s work, it’s fair to question whether Joss’s medical condition would be a liability that could prevent her from being an effective agent in the long run.

A More Suitable Candidate: Emma Drake

While Joss might be seen as a “legacy” member of Port Charles, given her ties to Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), there is a much stronger candidate for the WSB: Emma Drake (Braedyn Bruner). Emma is the granddaughter of legendary WSB agents Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). With such a rich legacy in the world of espionage, Emma has grown up with a unique understanding of the dangerous and thrilling life that comes with being a WSB agent.

From an early age, Emma has been surrounded by spycraft, danger, and the high stakes of WSB work. Her godparents, Sean Donely (John Reiley) and Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner), were both major figures in the WSB, and her mother, Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough), spent much of her childhood navigating life-threatening situations. Emma’s upbringing has prepared her for a life in espionage in a way that Joss simply hasn’t been.

Emma’s Legacy Makes Her the Natural Choice

What truly sets Emma apart from Joss is her natural connection to the world of espionage. Emma was literally born into the WSB lifestyle, and unlike Joss, she has been trained and mentored by some of the best agents in the business. She’s already familiar with the dangers and responsibilities that come with being part of an organization like the WSB, and her upbringing has given her the perfect foundation to excel in the field.

While Joss may have the connections that make her a viable candidate for the WSB, Emma’s deep-rooted legacy and the skill set she has developed over the years make her the far better choice for recruitment. Emma’s experience, bloodline, and inherent understanding of the complexities of spy work make her a more natural fit for the WSB’s needs.

Why Joss Was Chosen – Or Was She?

If Joss isn’t the ideal candidate for the WSB, why would they choose her? Some fans speculate that Brennan (Chris McKenna) might be using Joss to get closer to her family—particularly Sonny and Carly—either to manipulate them or use them as leverage in some way. Joss’s connections to these two powerful figures could serve as a means for Brennan to accomplish his goals, even if she doesn’t fully understand the bigger picture.

Perhaps, Brennan sees something in Joss that hasn’t yet been fully realized—a potential for growth or untapped skill that could serve the WSB in ways that haven’t yet come to light. However, given Joss’s impulsive nature and her medical concerns, it seems like the WSB might be making a significant misstep in recruiting her, especially when there’s a more obvious and qualified candidate like Emma available.

Conclusion

While Josslyn Jacks is a beloved character on General Hospital, her impulsivity, health issues, and lack of training in espionage make her a questionable choice for the WSB. Emma Drake, on the other hand, is steeped in the legacy of the WSB and has the skills and knowledge to thrive in that world. As the WSB continues to recruit new agents, one can only hope they’ll reconsider their decision and tap into Emma’s potential as the true future of the organization.
