Coronation Street has seen many beloved characters come and go over the years, but for actress Julia Goulding,

saying goodbye to her on-screen family is proving to be particularly difficult.
The 39-year-old star, best known for playing Shona Platt since 2016,
has opened up about her heartbreak as some of her closest co-stars prepare to depart from the long-running ITV soap.

With multiple actors set to exit Coronation Street in the coming months, Julia has expressed sadness over the departures of Paddy Bever,

who portrays Max Turner, and Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley.

An Emotional Farewell to Paddy Bever
Paddy Bever has played Max Turner since 2021, taking over the role from Harry McDermott. His character has been at the center of intense storylines, from his involvement with a far-right gang to his recent arson plot that nearly destroyed the Platt family home. As his time on the cobbles draws to a close, Julia admits she is finding it hard to say goodbye.
Speaking to the ECHO and other press, Julia shared:
“Devastated. I love Paddy so much, and I could actually be his mother, it’s ridiculous.”
She went on to praise the young actor, expressing confidence that he has a bright future ahead of him. While Paddy’s departure has yet to air, fans are eagerly awaiting how his character’s exit will unfold, especially with Max’s upcoming sentencing for arson.
Julia also voiced her hope that Max could one day return to Coronation Street, leaving the door open for a possible comeback.

“He’s got a very bright future ahead of him, and I would love to see him come back at some point, but I don’t know where his life is going to take him. Really sad to lose him.”
Charlotte Jordan’s Departure Hits Hard
While losing Paddy is difficult enough, Julia is also struggling with the exit of another close friend—Charlotte Jordan. The actress, who has played Daisy Midgeley since 2020, has become a fan favorite, particularly following her gripping stalker storyline involving the villainous Justin Rutherford.
Julia admitted that Charlotte’s decision to leave the soap has left her reeling, saying:
“And Charlie, don’t even get me started. I’m furious with her for leaving. I’m losing all of my mates.”
Charlotte has not yet spoken publicly about her reasons for leaving, but her exit is expected to shake things up for Coronation Street’s dramatic plotlines. Daisy has played a major role in the Rovers Return scenes and has built strong relationships with characters like Jenny Connor and Daniel Osbourne. Fans are eagerly anticipating how her departure will be handled.

Welcoming a New Face to the Cobbles
Despite the sadness of saying goodbye to Paddy and Charlotte, Julia does have one reason to celebrate—a close friend of hers has joined the Coronation Street cast. Actress Farrel Hegarty has recently been introduced as Lou Michaelis, a “nightmare neighbor” set to stir up drama on the street.
Julia couldn’t be happier about Farrel’s arrival, revealing that the two have been friends for two decades.
“We’ve known each other for 20 years. It’s wonderful having her here,” she said.
Although Julia and Farrel have yet to share any scenes, the Coronation Street star is already campaigning for their characters to cross paths.
“I did ask [show boss] Kate [Brooks] if we possibly could at some point. She’s wonderful and is perfect for Corrie.”
Shona Platt’s Story Continues

Julia Goulding remains a central figure in Coronation Street, with Shona Platt at the heart of numerous dramatic storylines. The Platt family is set to experience more turmoil next week as Max faces sentencing for the fire he started at their home.
With Shona standing by her troubled stepson, viewers will see her struggle with the uncertainty of his future. Julia’s powerful performances have solidified her place as one of Coronation Street’s most beloved characters, and despite the upcoming exits of her co-stars, she continues to thrive in her role.
As fans prepare to bid farewell to both Paddy Bever and Charlotte Jordan, Julia’s emotional reaction highlights just how close the Coronation Street cast truly is behind the scenes. Though it’s the end of an era for Max and Daisy, their impact on the show—and their friendships off-screen—will not be forgotten.
