In a dramatic and heart-wrenching episode of Emmerdale that aired on Thursday (February 20),

Natalie Ann Jamieson’s character, Amy Wyatt, met her untimely demise following the devastating limo crash that has rocked the village.
Amy, who had been struggling with personal turmoil, was one of the tragic victims of the crash,
which also claimed the lives of Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) and Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).

Her death came after a chilling plunge into icy waters, leaving fans mourning the loss of yet another beloved character.

However, what many viewers didn’t know was that Natalie had been pushing for a more challenging

and impactful storyline for her character long before she was informed of Amy’s tragic exit. Speaking candidly about her exit, Natalie revealed in an interview with The Daily Mirror’s Notebook magazine that she had actively requested more engaging plotlines for Amy.
“I had been asking for meetings about what was coming up for Amy and saying that I’d really like some challenging, new stuff,” Natalie shared. “They knew they had this coming up, and they didn’t have anything planned for Amy, and that was the direction that I wanted to go in.”
It was during one of these meetings that Natalie learned of the intense storyline involving Amy’s death. At first, she didn’t know that her character would be killed off, and it was only later that she discovered this would be her character’s exit from the show. Natalie admitted that she was initially conflicted by the news. While she was thrilled to have been given such a significant exit plot, she also found it difficult to come to terms with the fact that Amy would not be returning to the village.
“When they told me, I was like, ‘Oh!’ It’s really hard to know whether you would prefer for your character to die if you’re going, or to go in the back of a taxi,” Natalie confessed, reflecting on her mixed emotions.

Despite the sadness surrounding Amy’s departure, Natalie has nothing but gratitude for her time on Emmerdale. After the emotional scenes aired, she took to Instagram to express her thanks to the show’s cast and crew, as well as to her loyal fans. In a heartfelt post, she wrote, “Goodbye Amy 💔. I have had the best six years of my life playing this gobby Geordie with a heart of gold!”
Natalie continued to express her pride in the powerful conclusion to Amy’s journey, writing, “What a way to go – so so proud of the cast and crew who achieved all this in these last few episodes!” She also took the opportunity to thank her fans for their unwavering support, saying, “I’ve got so many amazing things to say about @emmerdale but for tonight just thank you for everything! And thank you to everyone of you who came on the journey with me, and all your beautiful messages you have sent to me! Lots and lots of love 💕.”
Amy Wyatt’s exit marked the end of a chapter for the character, who had been a part of Emmerdale for several years. From her time as a rebellious teenager to her more recent struggles with motherhood and relationships, Amy’s character had undergone significant growth. Her death, however, will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the remaining villagers, especially her family members, who will have to cope with the loss of a loved one in such a tragic and unexpected manner.

As the third victim of the limo crash, following the deaths of Leyla Harding and Suzy Merton, Amy’s departure is part of a larger, devastating storyline that has left fans reeling. Viewers will continue to follow the aftermath of the crash, with several characters still grappling with the fallout of the catastrophic event.
While Natalie’s time on Emmerdale has come to an end, her portrayal of Amy Wyatt will remain in the hearts of viewers. Her character’s dramatic exit serves as a testament to the strength and talent that Natalie brought to the role over the years.
As she bids farewell to Emmerdale, fans can only hope that the talented actress will return to our screens in future projects. In the meantime, they will continue to remember Amy Wyatt as one of the most memorable and beloved characters to grace the village.
