Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) are fast becoming the Ant & Dec comedy double act of Emmerdale, although with far less braincells between them.
These two are kings of not thinking things through – dumping John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) van in the river for one, which ultimately made it impossible for the man they were so keen to see the back of to actually leave.
Now Aaron has a new hairbrained scheme into which he’s only too keen to rope a hapless Mack.
Aaron gets a visit from PC Swirling who wants to know what he knows about some stolen smart watches.
Of course man of few words Aaron gives little away, but Swirling isn’t daft – this crime has got Aaron’s stamp all over it, plus his car was spotted leaving the scene. There’s no other evidence though, so Aaron is safe to break laws for another day.
He deliberately avoids telling John about what he’s done and what Swirling is sniffing around for, because he’s a bit sweet on John and doesn’t want to tarnish his reputation.
But he still has these watches to get rid of and now that he’s under scrutiny, it’ll be harder to do so. Especially if he drives them anywhere in his own car.
This is where Mack steps in, ironically as the brains of the operation. He suggests they use John’s van to get rid of the stolen goods.
Aaron approaches him about the vehicle, but even without knowing what he wants to use it for, John smells a rat and says no. That won’t stop this daft duo, and Aaron swipes his keys anyway.
They load the stolen watches into the van ready to make their getaway. When they later return to carry out their plan, Aaron’s heart sinks when he opens the van and the watches are no longer there.
If PC Swirling has found them, they’ll both be facing jail time. What’s happened to them?
