At the Abbott house, Diane and Jack talk about the accident involving Faith and Lucy, drawing parallels to Cassie’s death before shifting the conversation to work. Diane shares with her husband that some people in the office are questioning her presence there.

She wonders if Kyle might have planted the idea.

CBS

Jack thinks it’s possible, especially after his last meeting with their son.

He shares how painful the conversation was, leaving Diane feeling saddened. Jack suspects there’s more going on with Kyle, beyond just The Mustache’s influence.

Diane believes she’s the cause of Kyle’s troubles. Jack disagrees, and they find themselves at odds over it.

CBS

Diane believes Kyle has never forgiven her for faking her own death.

She hates to even admit it, breaking down in tears as she recognizes the deep hurt she caused him.

Her actions were selfish and vindictive. Jack is uncomfortable with the direction the conversation is taking, remembering how close they once were.

CBS

She knows but then she abandoned him. She cries as she thinks about this being the source of Kyle’s anger.

They discuss taking Victor down a notch or two has to be their first line of attack.

Traci and Alan turn up. They made a big decision involves the two of them. Traci’s moving back to Genoa City full-time.

Jack finds that sensational. Alan says he’ll be staying at the Athletic Club. Diane thinks this is wonderful. Jack needed this pick-me-up!

CBS

Kyle runs into Victor at the Athletic Club. Kyle’s got a gym bag and says he just finished working out.

Though he tries to get out of it, Victor demands a meeting.

They sit at the bar and Kyle tells him he thinks he and Summer are working their way toward a compromise with the custody of their son.

Victor has a favor. Kyle jokes that he’s in if it means going to war with Jabot. Victor smirks. He likes Kyle’s eagerness.

CBS

Kyle wants to show the world what he’s capable of. Victor’s glad but that’s not why he asked him for a meeting. He wants to talk about Claire. In specific, he wants Kyle to fire her so she can join their family business.

Kyle’s stunned when Victor suggests he find a replacement.

Kyle doesn’t like it, thinking it’s crucial for his son to have a nanny he can trust. He’s about to buy a house and thinks it’s too much change at once.

CBS

At Crimson Lights, when Chelsea asks for forgiveness, Billy tells her he’s not sure yet if he will.

She knows sorry means so little when she hurt him so deeply. She knew it was coming the second she made the mistake and kept it to herself because she didn’t want to cause him pain. She doesn’t get how she could let this happen. “You have any answers?”

CBS

He asks. She tells him he saved her. He’d do it all over again but this is nothing to do with that. She disagrees. She wants to give him peace. Her eyes fill with tears and she asks if she should give him space.

He wants to discuss this.

They sit outside and he tells her he knows she has wanted to confess for some time. He assumes Adam stopped her.

She agrees he didn’t want her to tell the truth but it was her choice to be quiet.

She tells him she loves him and he professes his love for her. She wants to know what to do and he’s just not sure. She talks again about her desperation to numb the pain that night.

CBS

There are no romantic feelings toward him. They’ve been there before he says. She says this is different. She was jealous and irrational because of Adam’s mind games. They’re just co-parents.

Billy would like to believe her but worries where she’ll end up if they don’t work this out.

Chelsea realizes he thinks she’ll try to end her life again and lets him know she’s not that woman anymore.

Both of them cry and dry their tears on the back of their hands.

CBS

He knows she did the work to get where she is now but the memory of that night haunts him.

Chelsea wants his forgiveness but not if it means he’s staying with her out of worry. Billy’s proud of her. If they broke up, how would Connor react? Chelsea sighs, knowing he’d blame himself. Billy worries he’ll have a setback.

Chelsea says they’d need a way to tell him so he doesn’t blame himself. Chelsea can’t believe Billy is being so even-keeled about this.

Billy has already confronted Adam and says he needs to ensure this doesn’t get the best of him. Chelsea sobs into her hands as he asks for time. He leaves.

CBS

At the condo, Adam sits and drinks while Sally storms down the stairs, an overnight bag in hand.

Adam stops her and begs her not to do this. He’s worried if she leaves, he’ll never see her again. She can’t believe he’s making this all about him.

CBS

He denies it but then makes it about him again by saying he can’t lose her. Sally yells, “Oh my God, that’s rich.”

She reminds him of the times she sat there and told him she was afraid to lose him. He knows.

She reminds him she was afraid to remind him of the anniversary of their daughter’s death. He’s been protecting himself, his pride and ego.

CBS

He says no, he was trying to pretend that it never happened.

He clutches his head, knowing it sounds as ridiculous as she thinks it sounds. She yells some more about his lies but he thinks they can get through this.

CBS

“Don’t you dare even compare the death of our daughter to your selfish and reckless and disgusting behavior.”

Adam says that’s not what he’s doing but she asks if he could sink any lower.

He explains he’d never diminish Ava’s passing. He’s talking about thinking he knew what was best for her and pushing her away like an idiot.

CBS

He swore he’d never let go of her again. She says no, he just cheated on her and hoped she’d never find out. Adam claims she made him a better person which rankles Sally.

If he thinks he needs someone to make him a decent person, then he never had a shot in the first place.

He tells her he’s his true self when he’s with her. She brings out the best parts of him.

He made a huge mistake and covered it up to prevent this from happening. Sally freaks out and tells him not to whitewash this and act like it was some act of altruism.

CBS

She yells that he lied to her for weeks when he knew damn well the truth would come out.

He says it’s because he loves her and didn’t want to hurt her. She screams that he made her a fool. How can he say that when he made her feel this way? He has no idea but he’s always been like this.

Sally sneers and tells him not to blame his childhood or being Vitor’s son. It’s not why he cheated.

Adam says there’s something dead inside him. He pushes away people he loves. He’s not proud of it and doesn’t know if he can change. Sally shrugs.

CBS

Guess there’s nowhere to go from here. He asks her to go to therapy but she says not to placate her.

He scrambles and vows to never lie to her again. Sally sniffs that it won’t erase all the past lies. He isn’t trying to turn the clock back but to show he’s learned his lesson.

Sally is shocked he really believes that he’s suddenly a changed man because she busted him for cheating.

He claims he wants to change and she tells him ‘good luck with that’.

She asks how he’s so good at lying.

CBS

Is he so dead inside that the only thing he cares about is getting caught? She asks who else he wants to protect. Chelsea? He denies it vehemently but she asks him to think about it. Was he emotionally conflicted because of her?

He says there’s history there but not a good one. He loves her. Sally tells him that’s not enough. She demands he answer the question. He stammers and claims he’s trying to be as honest as he can but she accuses him of using clever tactics not to answer her question.

Was any of what happened with Chelsea about love? Adam says, “Yes, it was.”
