‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm that Kate Mansi is the definitive Kristina Corinthos-Davis.
She’s come to own the role of Kristina, perfectly displaying the character’s more complex characteristics with the perfect mix of vulnerability and tenacity.
As a smart, creative person, she shares some of her mother, Alexis Davis‘s (Nancy Lee Grahn) traits, but she’s also fierce and sometimes a bit reckless and impulsive.
Which comes from her father, Sonny Corinthos‘s (Maurice Benard) side. Mansi knows how to balance those traits effortlessly, and she makes Kristina more relatable to boot.
Many soap fans already know Kate Mansi is a phenomenal actress, as she played Abigail Deveraux on Days of Our Lives.
When she became Kristina, she kept some of Lexi Ainsworth’s attitude but added elements to her portrayal to make it more authentic.
The story of Kristina being a surrogate for Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) got off to a rocky start due to the seemingly never-ending parade of Mollys.
Still, Mansi made it believable that she wanted to give her sister this beautiful gift.
She improved her acting skills when Kristina saw her father beat the living daylights out of Dex Heller (Evan Hofer).
Many fans said the writing didn’t ring true to the character, but Kate Mansi made it work. Her eyes were wide with sheer terror as she watched Sonny tear into Dex, and her performance of Kristina in the bathroom sunken and crying uncontrollably was heartbreaking to watch.
Then, there was the pesky situation created by her girlfriend, Blaze’s (aka Allison Rogers, played by Jacqueline Grace Lopez) mother, Natalia Rameriz (Eva LaRue), in which Ava Jerome (Maura West) gave a recording of a conversation between her and Natalia to the editor-in-chief of the Invader, Adrian DeWitt (Dieterich Gray)
It was in that conversation that Natalia revealed her true feelings about gay people and the fact that her daughter was one of them. She also made several negative comments about Alli’s relationship with Kristina.
That’s when Kristina marched right over to see Natalia and confronted her about the recording. Her performance was raw and powerful, as she perfectly portrayed a young woman who was forced to defend her lifestyle and the right to love whomever she wanted.
Kristina had some choice words for Natalia, as she told her that she would make sure that Alli never needed Natalia for anything ever again.
She also expressed her disdain for Natalia’s shallow treatment of her daughter. Mansi delivered her lines with strength and clarity, revealing Natalia’s bigotry for what it was. Mansi played her part with great skill and masterful execution.
The actress successfully achieved the challenging goal of conveying an important message through her performance, leaving the viewer with a lot to think about.
Mansi gave Kristina more compassion and added a nuance to the character. Her storyline with Blaze and the surrogacy story allows her to shine as an actress.
This representation of her character is why we think Kate Mansi deserves recognition for her portrayal of Kristina. She brings complexity to the role and is also very natural in her portrayal. That’s why we think Mansi is the definitive Kristina.
