Emmerdale airs a surprising temporary exit for characters Belle King and Tom, adding a dramatic twist to their ongoing coercive control storyline.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Shaw emphasizes the importance of portraying this issue truthfully and authentically. “For people who are subjected to domestic abuse, it’s not something that’s over in a couple of weeks. It’s something that goes on for a long period of time, and we wanted to be truthful to that,” she explains. Shaw indicates that the storyline will persist until the end of the year.
