Emmerdale has aired Rose Jackson’s disappearance in a dramatic cliffhanger.
Thursday’s (August 1) double bill started a shocking new phase of Rose’s storyline, after Kim Tate figured out that she had been plotting with Ruby Fox-Miligan for months.
Earlier this week, Rose got ex-husband Will Taylor drunk and then seduced him under the guise of rekindling their romance.
However, Will was adamant in the latest episode that what they’d done was a mistake.
Before Rose could make another move on Will, she got a call from Ruby warning her that Kim had figured out they were in cahoots.
A panicked Rose confessed to Will that she’d been purposefully trying to end his marriage to Kim as part of this secret plot with Ruby.
Rose pleaded with Will that she never meant for the scheme to go so far before Kim arrived back at Home Farm to announce that she knew everything.
Kim ordered Rose to pack her bags and leave Home Farm, but events soon spiralled out of control. Viewers would later see Will’s car pulling off to the side of the road, with Rose trapped in the boot.
When they opened the car boot to let Rose go, Will handed her a wad of cash. Kim then ordered Rose to call Dawn to explain she was leaving Emmerdale.
Back at Home Farm, Kim asked Will whether anything happened between him and Rose. A worried Will chose to lie to Kim, insisting nothing ever happened.
Rose was later shown sitting along the roadside, shedding tears while admitting that being “Granny Rose” was “nice while it lasted”.
Suddenly, a Home Farm Estate SUV pulled up alongside Rose before the soap cut away. At Home Farm, Kim told Will she hoped she’d “never lay eyes” on Rose again.
As Kim went off to her bedroom, the camera lingered on Will with a pained expression. The soap then cut back to the side of the road where the contents of Rose’s purse were strewn on the grass.
